NaNoWriMo

So, November is almost here and I will be trying my hand at the annual NaNoWriMo – or National November Writing Month.  Its pretty simple.  Write a novel in one month.  Facebook Page.

I have an inkling of what to write but the thought of getting up to 50,000 is a daunting.  The most I have written before is a little over 40,000.  I will give it my best shot though.  This story will be an historical/fantasy.  If I decide to do that one.

On another note, I have set up a Facebook Group & Page called Threadbare.  Threadbare is  campaign to get people gathering recycled clothing/blankets or knitting, sewing or crocheting them for homeless people and those living in fuel poverty this winter.  The aim is to try to keep as many people warm this winter as possible.  We are not a charity but we are working with many charities, from Age UK to Mental Heath charities, those for the disabled and homeless. Please feel free to join in and share.

And when it comes, happy Halloween.

  1. I’ve tried NaNoWriMo twice and Camp NaNo once, and I have never completed them. My problem is lack of time. How I wish I could free up some time to participate successfully. But I write when I can. Good luck!

    1. I know the feeling 😀 I’ll give it a try, at least I can say I’ve tried. As I mentioned, 50,000 words is far more than I have ever written before but I’m up for a challenge 😀 Best of luck with your writing, I hoe you can find the time for it. Life has a terrible habit of getting in the way xxx

      1. The thing that gets in my way is my daughter’s refusal to go to sleep at a decent time. Night time is about the only time I can write. Hopefully, she starts going to bed better soon.

      2. I know that feeling, Jay – my son is 7 months old, and he has decided that night-time is play time. He’s averaging getting to sleep around about 6-7am!!! Its very tiring and makes writing hard. Hoping your daughter will settle her sleep as well xxxxx

      3. I know, we’re exhausted! Once he’s asleep he sleeps for hours but we’ve tried everything to get him to sleep earlier. Nothing has worked so far. x

      4. Very frustrating. Have you tried waking him up at a decent time and keeping him awake as long as possible? Of course, it’s often difficult to wake up a sleeping kid when they’re out of it.

      5. We have. We’ve tried keeping him awake as long as possible, waking him early, making sure he’s well fed before he goes t bed (not immediately after a feed), we’ve tried everything we can think of.xxx

      6. No fun. When my daughter was younger, she’d often be difficult to get to bed. But we’ve found that if we have her doing a lot of walking and no nap, she’ll go to bed at a more decent time. Last night, she even asked to go to bed after using the toilet. No complaints. That was nice.
